This scheme provides scholarship for 20 students per year to study abroad at the Masters or PhD Level with a reservation for six female candidates. The scholarship includes tuition fees, travel to the US/UK, daily allowance, flight tickets, visa etc. There is also a ‘passage grant’ available for students who have otherwise secured scholarships by other means but seek travel costs to the US/UK from India.
What is the eligibility criteria for this scheme?
(i) The student must be a person with disability from the orthopaedic impairment, vision impairment or hearing impairment category having more than 40% impairment
(ii) On the day of advertising of the scheme, the candidate must not be more than 35 years
(iii) For PhD, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% in their Masters course, with preference given to candidates with job experience, especially those on lien from their current post and employer
(iv) For the Masters course, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% in their Bachelors Course, with preference given to candidates with job experience, especially those on lien from their current post and employer
(v) Total income from all sources for the candidate and their family should not exceed Rs. 6,00,000 (Rupees six lakhs per annum) taking into account all sources of income
